This is the ultimate test of trust. The head flight nurse told us to leave....the chopper was going to land and take off and scare that 'Arab' into the next state. We explained that we were training her and wanted to see how she would react. Shar got big eyed but never took a step! Everyone was astonished! He told us his Quarter Horses couldn't handle this, he would have never thought an 'Arab' could. The pilot toyed with her by buzzing and hopping towards her, she didn't give him the satisfaction of spooking. That's my Girl!! Arabians were bred for thousands of years for war and to live side by side with the family in their tents. They had to be gentle around them, yet be courageous on the battlefield. Sadly, these important traits are being forgotten.
TOO COOL!! Shar made international news in the April 2006 edition of the Arabian Horse World!! LINK

Our town has an annual celebration starting every 3rd Thursday of September, "Hootin' and Hollarin'". Thousands of people attend. I had just finished sewing Shar's costume that morning, complete with bells, and rode her to the town square. We won first place in the open costume parade.

Shar adores attention from children of all ages. From a 10 month old wiggleworm to 6 and 10 year olds horsin' around. Shar can do many tricks! She can bow, "shake hands", and answer "yes" and "no" to questions. A crowd pleaser and "ice breaker" for children that have never been around horses before! She is a part of our family and is here to stay, Lord willing.
