| The name of "Baby" is too confusing with a foal at her side, so we nicknamed her "Maggie" after baby Maggie on "The Simpson's". Since then we have different variations of her name like "Maggpies", because she is the most talkative horse I have ever known, she will carry on a coversation with you!! Maggie is a wise old mare who loves and spoils her foals and loves her humans, a real sweetheart. She is the dam of both Kourage and Synbad. Synbad will be her last foal, too many foaling complications, we want to keep her safe. We are retiring her to "pasture pet" status and a child's leadrope horse on occasion. UPDATE! Maggie is training to be a Theraputic riding horse, until she is ready for retirement back to Queen of the pasture. When we first brought Maggie home she was about 250 lbs. underweight, with Kourage at her side. Maggie has not had much human contact for alot of her years. She was running on a 200 acre pasture, relying on herself and her herdmates. It was a tramatic time for her to be moved away from her last home, but she gets alot of love and attention, extra feed, and supplements and has adjusted well. This is her home now. She has claimed my husband Ken, as her "pet". |
