Team penning is a fast paced, exciting
sport that is growing in popularity.
A team of riders, usually two or three, is given a set amount of time. In that time, they must go
into a herd of calves, cut them out one at a time, and chase them into a pen.
Rides are scored either by how many calves were penned during a set time or how long it took
to separate one calf and pen it.
Just about any horse can be taught to pen, although stock horses such as paints, quarter horses,
and appaloosas are most common.
