IBIZA Club Life_

Ibiza, in case you didn't know, is one of the balearic islands off the Spanish Mediterranean coast aka. the "white island", "Evissa" the island's Spanish synonymn has served as a haven for British and European vacationers alike. It is a summer hideaway deeply rooted in the free spirited hippy lifestyle of the sixties, so the legend goes. Pacha, the premier club of the island was envisioned by a young entrepreneur as a chance for a middle class worker to mingle with the high-class vacationers. This is where club culture began to sow it's roots and much of what exists today on Ibiza (the clubbing capital of the world). In essence, the promoters of these "super" clubs lavishly entertain their guests with luminous displays of art and excess, with only the best dj's handpicked from across the earth chosen to display their best rendition of the global phenomena associated with the modern dance music scene. In essence, Ibiza is a place where small dreams can become the next big thing.

Electronic Music 101: Sound Formulas by OmS

Many dj's and producers associated with the world dance circuit are using different formulas and thematics to generate a sense of aura, a chosen form of communication which symbolises the soul of the artist or the feeling of the lyricist. Here, appealing to the psyche of the listener, the music tends to enable an array of mixed feelings such as amusement and adulation, which creates an auratic feeling of oneness with the soul. Likewise, the elements of darkness which uses deep and diving sound effects, have a 3-dimensional feel to them which adds to the complexity of these artists personalities. Layers are another part of the genre that seem to contribute to the whole idea of song "epicism" that electronic music has been known for. Furthermore, the genre seems to be stemming away from the old trance/house idea of drum roll build-ups and slamming intro's using more groove-laden formulas which blend easier forming a classic musical module. In effect, the music seems to flow more easily, lessening the blow of the harsh and shocking theatrics used in recent genres. This type of idea seems to carry a more entrancing effect keeping the groove riffs more intact.

Music As An Elixir_by OmS

I just wanted to talk about the enchanting effects that a song can have on a person. For one, when a good song is first heard by a listener, I feel taken back because of it's general relation to other music that isn't so good. I find music to be like medicine at times, it keeps me sane and helps me to think more clearly. It makes the harshness of life seem a bit more unrealistic. I love trance music that is uplifting and a little dark and edgy. Smooth on the beats and large on the melody. Vocals can definitely add to the song, but need to be well performed. My favorite song at the moment is Ferry Corsten's-Punk, a great beat and slamming riff to top it off. I love the futuristic quality it has and the breakbeat rhythm. A true anthem at best. Late...
