Bu Jing Yun's personality is fiery and passionate and he tends to brood silently; a man of few words. He will spare almost no one, friend or foe, who stands in his way, killing many with cold-hearted brutality. But although Jing Yun is quick-tempered, controls his emotions with difficulty, and is often sullen, stubborn, and unforgiving, his heart is not without compassion and he acts, with few exceptions, for the greater good. Difficult to deal with at times, he stands willing to sacrifice his life for someone he loves or a cause at hand. Jing Yun's kinder, gentler personality remained buried within his uncommunicative, cold exterior for much of the story. A lingering, obsessive love for the servant girl Kong Ci was denied him on purpose by his shi fu Xiong Ba, who used his hot temper and impulsiveness to break the once tight friendship and brotherhood between him and his martial arts brothers Chin Shuang (Frost) and Nie Feng (Wind). Because of Kong Ci, Feng and Jing Yun (and Shuang as well, but most importantly Feng and Yun) split up, allowing Xiong Ba to attempt to take them out one by one. Jing Yun's real love was a lively and naive farmer girl by the name of Chu Chu (pretty). At first she was wholly unable to penetrate Yun's cold and lonely exterior as he held on to his obsession for Kong Ci, but through many hardships and her persistence, Jing Yun realized and accepted his love for her. Once he accepted his feelings, Yun was extremely loyal, faithful and protective, allowing some of his more sensitive sides to show themselves. Bu Jing Yun lost an arm in one of his attempts to kill Xiong Ba and avenge his foster family. He eventually regains an arm, called the Qi Lin arm, named after the Huo (fire) Qi Lin. |
