The College Cricket team had a very successful season last year. At the time this report was submitted, we were still in the midst of the Vanderholt as well as the Malaysian-Australian Trophy League. Our first breakthrough after six years came when we defeated the powerful Victoria Institution team by a very convincing margin. This victory was considered a double win as it made us the victors of the Malaysian-Australian Trophy (for schools in the Federal Territory) for the year 1977, as well as pushing us into the finals of the Vanderholt League. In the final for the Vanderholt Trophy, we met Klang High school. During this final the putras were in a commanding position when a heavy downpour halted play. The umpires declared Klang High School and RMC as joint-champions for crickets most coveted trophy in the state at school level.

As for this year, regular practises were held twice a week as from the beginning of the year. The practises started early as we wanted our players to get accustomed to the game - most of our players are newcomers as six of the players of the victorious 1977 team had left the college. Eventhough the newcomers attended regular practises enthusiastically, they lacked match experience which took its toll towards the later part of the 1978 Vanderholt league. We were very unfortunate not to have played any friendlies-due to the tight schedule in College. We started the 1978 Cricket year well, by beating our first two opponents - ACS Klang and Setapak High School but we were very unfortunate to lose our next two games against Kajang High School and Bukit Bintang Boys School. Our poor show, clearly showed we needed experienced players in our side. We were very unlucky not to have retained the Vanderholt Trophy, however, not all is lost yet as we are still in the running for the 1978 Malaysia-Australia Trophy. This competition has yet to start. (At the time of writing this report) Practises have been stepped up and we hope to put up a good show in this league.

One of the putras, R. Vejerwaran, the captain of our team was selected to represent Selangor Combined Schools who are in the Nava Shield Competition. This team also made a tour of Singapore in June. Lastly on behalf of the team, I would like to thank our cricket master Mr Ashraff for his help, coaching, pep talks and invaluable assistance to the team.
