Prompted by the Club's success in the Silver Jubilee Exhibition held last year and the encouragement of the College authorities and the advisors the members decided to put up a Copper Tooling Exhibition. We therefore started the year with preparations for this exhibition. This year the members had an added incentive to work harder and produce finer products. This incentive is in the form of a 20% commission to the individual members when their exhibits are sold at the exhibition. We thank the College authorities for this gesture.

The exhibition was held on the lst of May to coincide with the Old Puteras Versus Present Puteras Games. Going against the Asian tradition of closely guarding their trade secrets the members decided to exhibit their skills with a live demonstration. This certainly aroused much interest and helped to pull in the crowds. Our sale of exhibits was a tremendous success. We sold off all our exhibits except for two pieces. We take this opportunity to extend our thanks and gratitude to the old puteras for their support and patronage. Most of our choice pieces were taken up by our old puteras. We look forward to their support in our future endeavours.

Our financial turnover from this exhibition is summarised as follows:

Expenditure
Purchase of materials
Commission to members
Balance (Profits)

...

$ 716.05
$ 322.40
$ 276.55
$1315.00

..........
Sales
Sales of exhibits
Sale of exhibits at cost
Charges for frame and materials

...

$1012.00
$ 145.50
$ 157.50
$1315.00

We thus made a nett profit of $276.55

This year our Club received an allocation of one thousand dollars to buy more electrical tools to cut down labour and improve our skills. We have therefore added a table saw and some milling attachments to our model list of tools. These are at the moment being put to good use in preparation for our second exhibition of the year which has been scheduled to be held in December in conjunction with the Boys' Wing Passing Out Parade. We aim to put up the following sections of our activities:

Woodwork
Poster & Oil Paintings
CopperTooling
Decorated Kite Making

We trust and hope to be successful again in this exhibition.
