Chess in the college was given a new lease of life with the formation of a club with a small but dedicated membership. The election of office bearers took place in mid February, and it was decided that the club's main aims would be firstly, to revive the game actively among the putras, secondly, to rebuild the club with equipment meeting international requirements and finally to put RMC back on the chess Map.

With the purchase of equipment, priority was given to the MSSS competition where a team was fielded in the U-20 section. With our relative inexperience, the team performed fairly well, benefiting from the experience to finish runners up in the Bangsar Distrct.

However, in the individual competition, our representatives are Peter Long Chay Boon and Razali Hamzah finished first and second respectively to earn the right to represent Bangsar District in the Selangor Schoolboys's individual championships.

In the Selangor schoolboys', Peter Long Chay Boon successfully defended his title and was also appointed captain of the Selangor Team for the Malaysian Schoolboys' championships at Penang in December.

The club also organised an interclass competition which at the time of writing was still in progress. With a number of friendly games also being planned, it is hoped that the club may be able to realise its objectives to the fullest in the near future. Lastly, the club would like to expresss its gratitude to our advisor Encik Ali b Deros for his invaluable time.
