ABOUT US
The "Wind is Free" crew
I've always wanted to sail, my first mate-not so much. As the size of our boats got bigger, my first mate warmed up to the idea of spending time on the water. While our son, now 17, will come along with us, "Cabin Dog" Belmont (he's from "Da Bronx"), is much more eager to come aboard.
Much of my youth was spent either working on engines to see how fast I could go or trying to perfect my craft as a musician. Now, more than 40 years later (We're both on the 'dark side' of 50), I can finally spend some time going somewhere slowly. My first Mate works in the health industry, but I've been a Music Teacher for over 30 years. Being 'financially challenged' as a teacher meant that I needed other jobs to help pay the bills(for a while I had a total of 4). This meant also that I had precious little time to even go fishing, let alone restore an old boat and take a long time to get to the fishing spot.
Never being one to simply sit around (I guess that's why I have a sailboat instead of a power boat), I managed to build a pretty nice recording studio during the years I was restoring my first boat. Since I perform with a nightclub band nearly every weekend, I find that there's never quite enough time for everything, so I guess it'll be a long time before I get that golf handicap of mine down to single digits!
As I complete each project, I'll be adding pictures to the pages, so be sure to keep checking up on the site.
Here's to fair winds and smooth sailing....
