Two hard-to-get Beehive Pharmacy blues c1900
Ferdinand Carl Strempel's Beehive Pharmacy was located in the (Beehive building) 32 King William St, Adelaide. Strempel was born at Lobethal, South Australia, in 1870. He entered upon the study of pharmacy under Theodore Heuzenroeder, of Tanunda, with whom he served his indentures. After qualifying he worked for several chemists in Adelaide, until taking on his own Beehive Pharmacy in 1896. The business commenced by Strempel traded from the same location until the 1950s. These bottles dating c1900, were manufactured by Whitall - Tatum & Co, of the glasstown plant in Millville, New Jersey, USA. |
