Oreo the Cocker

Oreo

On December 8,2003 our precious Oreo went to wait for us at the Rainbow Bridge, he would have been 17 years old, May of 2004. He was diagnosed with congestive failure, we helped him all we could and kept him comfortable until it was no longer possible and there was no way we were going to make him suffer, we loved him too much for that. He was our family member, our pet, our confidant, and a best friend for many years. He was our best friend when we needed him most and we were his best friend when he needed us most. We were with him until the end, it was peaceful and loving and I know he felt that love. The river of tears still flow now and again, but he will stay in our hearts and memories.....Until we meet again......

Hi, I'm Oreo, a cocker/terrier mix. My owners, Michael and Debbie, or should I say......"My human pets"....are the one's that has taken care of me since I was 4 weeks old. I'm also spoiled rotten and get what I want when I want it! *LOL*

I spend alot of time on my corner of the bed, just waiting and listening for some action, either outside or inside. Mom and Dad's bed is 3 foot off the floor, and they have me a stool to get up on the bed with. I'm 15 years old now and just want to be left alone most of the time. I let them know when I want something, like going outside to do hurry-ups or to play. Here I am on my corner of the bed, which is also mom's side of the bed. And I'm really good at messing up the bed as you can see. I just like to dig around and make me a spot to my liking. That's also my knitted blanket you see, it's red, pink, green and yellow and blue stripes.

Don't let my age fool you, I still have alot of energy in me! Mom calls me her "old man" and tells me I stuck my nose in the flour, my eyebrows are turning white too!

How my human pets got me and I'm glad they did.....The people that owned my mom that just had me and several other puppies left us outside in a box during a hurricane in Charleston SC, it was a class 5 hurricane and one of the worst! My mom was working with F.E.M.A. (Federal Emergency Managment Assoc) at that time and going from house to house the morning after the storm and heard us whimpering and started looking for the sound and where it came from. There we were, our mom was killed during the storm, but we survived somehow. Debbie took us and found all of us good homes, but I was relentless and stayed under her feet. Guess she got attatched to me and so it became that I was now part of the family!! Here's a picture of me 15 years ago, mom is holding me, I was so tiny!
