Redcap

Bad-tempered and hungry (SH).

- Court: Unseelie

- Birthrights: - Frailties: Bad Attitude: As written: 2 Social Negative traits (e.g., Ghastly, Obnoxious, Repugnant, Tactless), and treat any fae Status as one level lower.

- Immunity: Redcaps in their true form are used to pain and may treat wound penalties as one level less.

- Bans: Choose two of the following: prey exclusion; never respect someone who can't kick your ass; repelled by holy symbols; never enter a doorway or window protected by a horseshoe; always wear a cap dyed with mortal blood.

- Weakness: Cold Iron

- Binding: It is said that if a mortal manages to steal a redcap's tooth and ritually smashes it on an altar, the redcap dies instantly. While it is not clear if the necessary ritual actually exists, the very idea makes redcaps so nervous that someone with any redcap tooth can, with a Mental "staking" challenge, convince a redcap that it is the redcap's own tooth, even against all evidence, causing the redcap to obey the "wielder" (although it is wise to make the redcap swear an oath, or he will seek to take the tooth at the first opportunity). Redcaps commonly eat the bodies of slain kithmates, lest their teeth fall into the wrong hands.

- Regaining Mana: Conspicuous Consumption, Mana Stealing, Reaping.

- Preferred Disciplines: Animalism OR Presence (Intimidation-based), Chimerstry OR Thaumaturgy: Mastery of the Mortal Shell [as Discipline], Fortitude

- Origin: Redcaps of Earthly origin who remember their true selves are equally likely to have lived either away from human habitation, playing the role of wild predator, or among humans, pursuing violent occupations. The former category may have found hidden sources of Mana (with Backgrounds in Node or Tass, for instance) while the latter is more likely to have Street or Underworld Influences and Contacts among other urban supernaturals or rough-and-tumble humans, not to mention at least one level of Seeming.

- Appearance: In their true form, redcaps are grey and wrinkly, with bloodshot yellow eyes, broken red-black fingernails, and particularly alarming teeth. They will almost invariably wear a red hat or cap of some sort, although not all of them dye their hats in the blood of their victims. They will usually require the Seeming Background to pass as human at close range, and at a distance in the light they will need clever costuming.
