- Frailties: Reckless: +1 Impatient,
and Gullible in dares
- Immunity: Eshu may (but normally need not) freely retest any
challenge aimed at preventing them from a reckless course of action,
including those using supernatural powers of persuasion.
- Bans: never plan ahead (a scene or a day ok; beyond next week,
not so much); never pass up an opportunity to tell a relevant tale
- Weakness: Cold Iron
- Binding: Impossible dare: a mortal can make an eshu accept a
dare or proposal he knows is impossible with a Social challenge and two simple
tests, whereupon he will devote his full attention to figuring out a way to
do it. (The eshu may "dodge" with Enigmas or perhaps Survival,
representing either his ability to find a quick solution or to realize that
accepting the dare is truly foolish.) Clever eshu will look for loopholes in
the wording of the dare. Otherwise, the eshu is preoccupied until he attempts
the dare, the original challenger releases him from the dare, or someone else
manages to talk him out of it (using Social challenges or supernatural persuasion;
the eshu's Immunity applies whether he wants it to or not). Note: despite use
of the word "impossible," truly ridiculous things may be discounted.
"Swim to Alpha Centauri" is a non-starter; "swim from Boston
to London," however, is so crazy it just might work...
- Regaining Mana: Reverie, Rapture, Ravaging.
- Preferred Disciplines: Celerity OR Temporis (note
that no character may ever possess both Disciplines simultaneously, even if
one is purchased "Out of Clan"), Chimerstry, Presence OR
Thaumaturgy (Fairies' Fortune, Path of Curses, Path of the
Focused Mind, Path of Oneiromancy).
- Origin: Eshu of Earthly origin were among the most mobile and
adventurous of the Earthly fae, even those who did not remember themselves,
and have Allies, Contacts and Lore of all kinds.
- Appearance: Eshu look very human, especially resembling humans
from Africa, the Near East, or the Indian subcontinent. They do have the pointed
ears common to nearly all fae, and their eyes are often all one color, lacking
whites and pupils. Still, with minimal effort, low-Ranking eshu lacking the
Seeming Background can disguise themselves as human.
- Special: Faction: Talecrafters (4M): The bards of this faction have a power that enable them to illustrate their tales with a chimerical multimedia presentation (details forthcoming, but you'll likely be able to think of a few similar published powers in White Wolf games). Talecrafters gain an extra trait
of Status: Eshu and one of Status: Seelie, but are bound by the
Bard's Tongue (as the Flaw).
