Whether volunteering to cook at Camp Rainbow in Blackstone or hosting our annual "Sweetheart Banquet," our United Methodist Men's group is considered among the most active in the small churches of the Virginia Conference (and on some levels, among the most active in the entire Virginia Conference).
They meet on the third Saturday of every month. Fellowship and singing may begin around 7:00 A.M. and breakfast usually starts around 8:00 A.M., immediately followed by a brief bible study. where they enjoy fellowship with
not only men from within our own churches, but also men from other churches, such as Cottage Place UMC in Portsmouth, Bethany and Uzzell's UMC's in
Isle of Wight, and other non-Methodist churches in the area.
The OG-RV UMM are one of three groups in Virginia that have given $1000
each year to Camp Rainbow (the other two are St. Stephen's of Alexandria and Bon Air of Richmond; both incredibly large churches). |
