LOCAL, STATE, NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
for
SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS

************************************
Please take time to answer the poll questions to the right on this page...Thank You

Although there are better than 450,000 school bus drivers in the United States, they have a very weak voice when it comes to addressing issues that affect them.

Unless they happen to belong to a union, they are, basically, at the mercy of their employers. Unfortunately, many employers place profit before doing right for their drivers. Even drivers that belong to a union only have a limited voice. Usually they can only bring about change in the local area where they drive.

A drivers association could completely change how school bus drivers are viewed and treated, in much the same way "AARP" has given our senior citizens a very strong voice in all areas of their lives.

Most school bus drivers are not treated with the respect they so richly deserve as professionals. Very few are paid at a level that corresponds with the training, responsibility and stress of the position.

What about the time between runs, when you are on call in case of early dismissal? Time that you can't work at another "part-time" job, are you being paid for that dead time?

How are your benefits? Do you have Health, Dental, Eye and Life Insurance through your employer? Are they plans that answer your needs or the cheapest plan the company can find?

Do you have paid Vacation time, Personal time, Bereavement leave? What about a Retirement Plan? A Credit Union? Professional Discount offers?

By now you should be getting the message?..we are being grossly short changed. While the bus company operators claim to be unable to provide these types of benefits, they are obtainable.

Imagine the buying and bargaining power of a association with over 400,000 members. Each and every school bus driver in the U.S. would be able to enjoy every one of the benefits mentioned above.
No longer would you be treated as less than the professional you are. Somewhere, someone has the knowledge and the resources to bring this about, would you be willing to be apart of such an association?
