OUR YEARS IN RETROSPECT
In 1950 Sister Burchie Davis was appointed Grand Representative of Indiana. Kirkwood Chapter took a Friendship Bible to Ballwin Chapter.
Worthy Grand Matron, Sister Mary Jane Truman, was our Installing Grand Matron in 1951. It was during this year that the Chapter gave out one hundred twenty three (123) twenty-five (25) year pins.
Government bonds were purchased in 1952 and a public dance netted the Chapter almost five hundred dollars ($500.00).
1953 saw Kirkwood honored again as Sister Burchie Davis was appointed as Grand Adah. More bonds were purchased. A new altar cloth was obtained and chairs were re-covered.
We were still buying bonds in 1954. Seventy-four (74) members attended Gardenville Chapter, taking along the Traveling Scepter. We also cleared over seven hundred dollars ($700.00) on two card parties.
A birthday calendar was the new project in 1955, with a lucky seat at each meting for one of the members.
We purchased new drapes and rods for the dining room in 1956.
1957 was a year to remember! Due to a severe storm disrupting the electricity as the Worthy Matron was installed, our Installation was held by candlelight. The Harmony Club gave the Chapter a new ballot box.
Sister Burchie Davis was appointed as Grand Representative of California in 1958. The Chapter purchased a chair rack and one hundred (100) chairs for the dining room.
A new steam table was purchased for the kitchen in 1959.
