In a nutshell

|
Application/languages I've used before:
Programming
- Java
- I learned Java in University. All of our programming assignments were to be done in a Java environment. I'd like to think I know it pretty well, although I know I'd like to know it better.
- C++
- I spent about 4 months working entirely in visual C++ on a work term. I got pretty far into my project with it. I felt really accomplished. :) This is second on my list of languages because I know Java a whole lot better but I still have an understanding of C++.
- Visual Basic
- Knowing the other languages makes visual basic pretty easy for just about anyone with that background knowledge to pick up. Gotta love point and click, it saves a lot of time in making the front end look. It gives you more time to focus on what its actually supposed to do.
- CFML
- I learned this web based language when I worked for DND. Its a really elegant and powerful web language! I really enjoyed working with it.
- HTML
- I've been working with basic HTML since probably about grade 11 (1997). I've been doing personal web pages since then, and professional ones since 2001.
Editing
- Word
- I use word just about all the time. I use it to keep my notes, I can make forms with them and I use it to format my pdf's before I convert them, plus many other everyday things. It is my main word processor.
- Corel
- I use Corel mainly at school, it is the main word processor for the French Department at UNB. I like it well enough and am functional in it.
- Homesite
- I'll be honest, homesite is my baby. I love it and I use it everyday. In fact, I'm using it right now. I prefer it as my web developing tool, but I am able to use other developing tools (including Notepad). I'm a purecoder and I like that Homesite gives you a versatile coding environment and doesn't add anything to you're original code.
- Pagemaker
- I just started using last year (2002) and I really enjoy it. I use it for creating publications for print such as pamphlets and small booklets. I've made a few things already (for Natural Resources) and I think they turned out nicely.
- ColdFusion
- Three words: I love it. You probably could have guessed that since I love Homesite so much. I actually used ColdFusion before I ever touched Homesite. We were starting to implent the language and coding when I worked for DND. I love that it makes writing code so elegant (And powerful!).
- FrontPage
- Again with the being honest, I know how to use it, but that doesn't mean I like it. Frankly I'd rather use notepad. Frontpage is nice for people who are learning to develop thier own pages, but not for people who code their pages as opposed to point and click. When I have to edit pages that have been done it FrontPage, it is a potential migrane.
- Emacs
- I use this at school to develop in Java. I like it (mmm colour coding..) and have become pretty efficient in it I guess. This is the only development environment we have at UNB.
- Notepad
- This is how I began my coding experience. This site, for instance, started in Notepad and has blossomed from there. All you need to code anyway is a little readable ASCII right? :)
More information will be provided at a later date. In the meantime, if you have any questions please feel free to email me.
