| The original 609-er This site is dedicated to Hob Gadling, Ocean County's first settler. Hob stumbled upon the area after being chased out of his house by his wife, whom he had promised on numerous occasions to stop coming home late at night smelling of booze and cheap women. His escape from his wife's wrath and the ensuing journey (after being lost in the wilderness) led him to what is today known as the Barnegat Bay. It is true when they say that "Behind every great man is a great woman". Thank you, Mrs. Gadling. |
