Americans are traveling closer to home, and Cozumel, the largest island in the Mexican Caribbean, proves to be the ideal “close to home” international fit, according to 100 Carlson Wagonlit travel agents nationwide.
“Isla Cozumel's tropical climate, vibrant culture and island lifestyle make it the perfect destination for Americans looking to travel just beyond the border,“ said Gaston Cantarell Diaz, president of the Isla Cozumel Hotel Association and private sector representative for the tourism foundation.
In 2003, Cozumel estimates an increased number of visitors vacationing on island. By air alone, Cozumel anticipates approximately 165,000 arrivals, an increase of 15 percent from 2002.
