Making lemonade out of lemonsAs I've already mentioned, Iowa winter days are short and the nights can be painfully chilling. When the wind howls and the snow blows, my mind wanders away to places like Cozumel. Everyone wants to get away but not everyone can afford such an escape. I can't change the weather but I can change my viewpoint. Cozumel isn't an affordable getaway for a college student like me but a ski trip is! Below you can see my alternative to Cozumel. It's a little place called Seven Oaks Resort. A tiny set of ski slopes just outside of Boone, Iowa.

| My sons Wayne and Mitchell went and Wayne's friend Stephen met us there. As you can tell from the short sleeves, it was quite warm that day. | I was surprised at how well Mitchell did since he'd never been on a snowboard any better than one of those cheap plastic jobs Wal Mart sells. |

| The day finally came to an end and we headed home. No matter if I skiied a lot or a little, I had a great time and found skiing to be an excellent workout. Even Wayne was tired! | ![]() |
