2001 was het jaar van mijn backpacking trip naar Australie. Drie maanden lang met rugzak op rondgetrokken. Was echt heerlijk. Ben begonnen in Sydney, naar Canberra en Melbourne. Toen een tour gedaan om de Great Ocean Road te zien, door naar Adelaide. Daar een tweedaagse reis naar Kangaroo Island gemaakt. Nog even wijn proeven in de Barossa Valley en een tour door de outback (Wilpena Pound, Cooper Pedy, Ayers Rock, the Olga's, Kings Valley) en eindigen in Alice Springs. Bus naar Cairns via Tennant Creek, Mount Isa en Townsville, nachtje in Cape Tribulation, zeilen om te Whitsundays via Airlie Beach, Fraser Island gezien via Noosa. Paar dagen Brisbane, even Byron Bay en overnach bus naar Sydney en Katoomba. Toen alweer tijd om op 22 mei naar huis te vliegen. Daarna aan het werk bij Centocor als Quality Assurance officer (kwaliteits bewaring persoon). Heb heel veel training gehad, maar het was wel erg goed om op kantoor te zitten (en een boel koffie te drinken uiteraard) met het gevoel een echte baan te hebben.

In 2001 I spent a few more weeks working at Yamanouchi, and went travelling in Australia for 3 months (real backpacking). I've visited a lot of places, starting with Sydney, on to Canberra and Melbourne. Did a tour of the Great Ocean Road and on to Adelaide. Went on a two day tour to Kangaroo Island and went wine tasting at the Barossa Valley. Went on a outback tour and vistied Wilpena Pound, Coober Pedy, Uluru, Katja Tjuta, Kings Canyon and finished in Alice Springs. Took a Greyhound bus via Tennant Creek, Mount Isa and Townsville to Cairns. Spent one night at Cape Tribulation. Went sailing on the Whitsundays out of Airlie Beach. Went to Noosa to get a tour to Fraser Island. Spent a few days in Brisbane and Byron Bay. Took an overnight bus to Sydney and straight to Katoomba. Had to fly back on May 22nd. Got myself a kick-ass job at Centocor: Quality Assurance Officer at Batch Disposition and Release. Involved a lot of training, but it was nice being an office girl because it ment I could drink a lot of coffee whilst at work.
