Fifth Avenue is well known for being the place to shop but sometimes it pays to shop round. Check out the side street outlets, there are real bargins to be found.  Canal  Street down in Greenwich Village is full of small stalls that seem to appear out of nowhere and disappear just as quick if the local NYPD start looking round. It's a good place to buy fake Rolexes, Prada bags and laods of other fake designer goods.

It is well worth coming over with an empty suitcase and getting loads of clothes while you are here. Prices are much lower than the UK, for example you can pick up a pair of Levis for half the UK  RRP.
If you want to come during the sales season these are usually from mid June to July and from December 26th until February.
Watch out for the sales tax as this is not included in the ticket price, the tax is 8.25% so this will be added to your purchase and applies to most high street goods.
Most stores opening hours are from 10-6 but this can vary, the Virgin Megastore for example is open much later in the evening, most stores are also open on Sundays..
Yellow Rat Bastard ( a cool shop )
For Cameras, Walkmans  and other Elontronic goods at good prices if you can haggle well is the Midtown area  14th - 23rd between Broadway and Sixth.
