Footdrill

As a uniform group, footdrill has been passed down in tradition as a mode to instill discipline, promote self confidence and emphasize teamwork. Our Officers and Cadets still keep this unique part of training tradition - building our character and discipline in the process. Through the sweat under the sun and going through tough times together - mutual respect and unique bonds are formed.

We took part in major parade such as our Brigade General Inspection, Singapore's Youth Festival and Singapore national Day Parade as part of the marching contingent. All participants all agreed that these experience are extraordinary and very enriching.

First Aid

First Aid refers to the immediate aid rendered to casualty at the scene of accident with equipment available at the spot until the arrival of a trained medical professional. These previous few minutes can mean life or death for the casualties.

It is our responsibilities to fulfill the duties of a first-aiders which are:

  1. Preserve life

  2. Prevent injury from worsening

  3. Promote recovery

We carry out many first-aid lessons and practical trainings to sharpen our skills for any unforeseeable accidents. We also took part in Inter-Corps/Inter-Zone First Aid competitions to gauge and pit our skills against the very best. As iron sharpened iron, we learned from one another to better prepare ourselves. It's always better to be prepared than to be sorry.

Home Nursing

As the Singapore's general population grows older, there is an increasing number of elderly who will need care. In home nursing, the Cadets are taught the knowledge and techniques required to perform fundamental care and nursing skills. In our cluster, we are very fortunate to have a few Singapore Registered Nurse as our Officers to guide our Cadets professionally in this aspect of nursing.

Community Services (Hospital Duties)

SJAB also have arrangements with some hospitals to allow Cadets to perform hospital duties. Cadets would be able to help out in actual hospital to put their skill into good use.

Transportation Of Casualty

SJAB trained Cadets to do simple evacuate of casualties through different obstacles by transportation techniques and use of stretcher. In the event of emergencies where the casualties cannot be accessed directly, these trained Cadets will transport the casualties to safety for further treatment. The Cadets were also taught some simple equipment in the Ambulance.

It is our responsibilities to ensure the transportation process are:

  1. Safety

  2. Steady

  3. Speedy

Many of the techniques taught will come in useful for the guys during National Services' evacuation exercises.

Community Services (Public Duties)

All of our cadets participate in the community services through performing public duties. our Cadets will be on first-aid coverage duties for various school events and external events such as National Day, parade, walkathon, marathon and even concerts!

Many of the casualties benefited from our Cadets' help and concern. For us, it's just our simple way of serving the community.

Camps

Different schools will have different camps - some may have combined uniform group camp or inter-school camp. However, all our Cadets will go through at least one camp in the N.C.O. course camp. Through these camp, the Cadets can learn more about independence and how to live outside the comfort zone. It is also a time to get familiarize with community living for future such as National Services and hostel life in University.

Courses

There are different courses arranged for different objectives in mind. N.C.O. course aims to groom leaders, C.P.B.S. courses seek to facilitate Cadets' all-rounder development and Home Nursing courses is used to enhance the standard of Nursing Knowledge.

Competition

The Zone organizes Inter-Corps First Aid and Home Nursing Competition annually. Some members with better skill and knowledge will be trained specially and send for this extraordinary experience. All competitors from these competition teams always have the same thing to share after the trainings - the feeling and excitement. However, the most importantly is that the Corps are united and everyone in the Corps play a part - and everyone is part of the team. Ultimately, everyone learns and grow together.

Recreational Activities

We are definitely not in the business of singing same songs over and over again. We explore different recreation activities such as fancy drill, cheer-leading, dancing and many more. We design enriching but safe fun for cadets to unwind from the chores of routine life.
