Wild Innocence: A Tale from the Eighties by Moody Holiday

I loved this book! It was truly a tale form the eighties. We meet the main character, Shanelle, as a young teenager experiencing her first crush. The reader gets to travel with Shanelle has she experience her first love, family drama and ultimately a understanding of her physical and emotional self. Moody Holiday wrote with such clarity and insight you'll soon find yourself completely involved in Shanelle's life. The male characters are a mix of the good, the bad and the deranged. Once you meet Shanelle's first love, Derrick,  you'll fall in love with him as well. Her growing awareness of her body will have you remembering the first time you were conscience of your (as Shanelle named it) kitty. Shanelle journey through high school will make you travel back in times to those glorious days of boys, best friends, and hanging out
When we get to meet her family, we see another side of Shanelle's life that is not pretty at all. They give new meaning to the term, family drama. You'll be shocked at what she must endure on a daily basis. The emotional and physical abuse, she takes from her brother and mother will have you cringing in your seat.  Although, Shanelle experiences a lot of pain, embarrassment and heartbreak, she truly blossoms in the end. The ending of the book will have your heart(and your kitty) fluttering. After you read
Wild Innocence, you'll be craving others titles from this author. Moody Holiday is definitely an author on the rise.
