| The Sisters of APF by Zane
This was the first book I've read by Zane and all I can say is Wow. The Sisters of APF is a story about sexually repressed college student, Mary Ann, who gets introduced to a secret sorority of sexually, liberated women. The story starts by introducing us to Mary Ann, a smart, college bound law student, who, always do the "right" thing. On her first day in college, she meets Patricia, the Resident Advisor, whose also a member of APF. As Patricia gets to know Mary Ann more, she starts to see her as APF material. The other sisters of disagreed with Patricia. All they see is a bumpkin, who has no business anywhere near their sorority. At first I agreed with them. I couldn't see Mary Ann doing half the things APF do on the regular. However, during an encounter with Olive (the President of the Washington D.C. chapter), I started to see what Patricia knew all along. Soon, I realized Mary Ann is indeed destined to become a Sister of APF. I thought the actual plot was okay. The story line and characters were good but nothing to really flip about. For me, the only memorable characters were Drayton and Olive. Drayton was a character that I will dream about on those lonely nights and Olive was super cool. As Mary Ann's Resident Adviser, I thought Patricia would be more involved in her sexual transformation. However, it was Olive who gradually took Mary Ann under her wing. Although, I was expecting it, Mary Ann transformation from country bumpkin to Super Freak was shocking. I just didn't know she was going to be that freaky. There was some parts of the book that had me laughing out loud and other parts that had me blushing. If The Sisters of APF was a story about a sorority of good, virginal girls, I wouldn't have picked up the book. Although I loved reading it, I have to be honest. I think the shock value really fuel this book. Without it, I doubt I would have enjoyed it as much. But, overall, I thought this was a fun book to read and I'm now an avid fan of Zane.
