Sponsorship
The Newington School Supporters are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to:
Provide a forum to enrich, support and facilitate communication and interaction between parents,
teachers, and administrators.
Our goals are to insure good communication within the Newington Public School community and to
facilitate and encourage opportunities for enrichment. This is accomplished in a variety of ways;
from organizing and funding an Artist-in-Residence program, to providing smaller programs and funding
to enrich and support the curriculum at the Newington Public School.
During the 2004-2005 school year the Newington School Supporters organized an Artist-in-Residence
program centered around the school's theme of Building Connections. Parents and volunteers came in and
assisted the students with building bird and bat houses. Local author Marie Harris came and spoke with the
students about writing and signed copies of her books G is for Granite and Primary Numbers. Students made
holiday ornaments and enjoyed a school dance. In the spring the students took a day long trip to the White
Mountains with the support of the Newington School Supporters. This current school year students have made
holiday tiles for their parents and are looking forward to learning how to tie-dye. This year's school
theme of Taking Care of You and Me will be emphasized with a program on self esteem and the opportunity
to learn new physical skills such as juggling and cup-stacking.
Funding for these programs comes from a variety of sources, but the single largest fundraiser is our
annual Fox Point Sunset Road Race. Held each September this race has provided funding for the Newington
Public School's technology program and helped purchase new playground equipment. Other fundraising efforts
occur during the school year with the sale of Christmas wreaths, selling products from various fundraising
companies, bake sales and the Town Meeting Cafe. These smaller fundraisers are primarily targeted at the
families and neighbors of Newington Public School Students. However as a small school
(approximately 30 families), our fundraising efforts need to expand beyond selling products to our families
and neighbors. Support of the annual Fox Point Sunset Road Race is integral to support our goal of
facilitating and encouraging opportunities for enrichment.
We look forward to your organization's support and thank you for your support in previous years.
Your sponsorship of the Fox Point Sunset Road Race is what helps us to provide these opportunities
to the students of the Newington Public School.
