Joseph Francis Satava
Winner of the $2000 Promising Young Artist Award 2002
He made his orchestral debut in 1992 with the Suburban Symphony
Orchestra (Cleveland, OH). He has performed with the Cleveland Heights Chamber
Symphony and the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra (Denver, CO). Recently, Joseph
performed a chamber music recital at the French Embassy in Washington, DC
in the "Rising Star's" series. He will be giving a guest artist solo recital
at the Texas Conservatory for Young Artists in June.
Joseph has taken prizes in several piano competitions: The Young
Keyboard Artists' Association, International Piano Competition, the Miecyslaw
Munz Piano Competition, and most recently, second prize in the Peggy and Yale
Gordon Piano Competition.
Joseph's early training began at the Cleveland Institute of Music in
the Young Artist Program. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from the
Peabody Conservatory of Music, receiving the pauline Favin Award in piano
at commencement. Joseph holds a Master of Music degree from Juilliard School
of Music and is pursuing his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the Peabody
Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University where he is studying with
Julian Martin.
