The Transition from a PRO to VP
a n   e x c l u s i v e   i n t e r v i e w

Editor (ET): First, how do you feel as a Vice-President of T.A.S?
Serina Lee (SL): I feel honoured of course and very surprised initially when I first found that I got the position. I'm the quiet one in the last councilsh ip and I dun have much achievements to speak of, so I never expect to be chosen as one of the TM (Top Management), much less the vice-president. Sometimes i feel quite lost and uncomfortable holding this post. I always think that I can be a very good follower but not a leader.however I hope I can make use of this chance to proof myself wrong by carrying out the duties of a VP to my best abilities.

ET: What are the aims you have as a VP?
SL: To maintain the discipline of the club (err...but I think I am too soft-hearted at times..hehe) and to handle the internal affairs of the club. Ensure that everyone is living in harmony and not plotting to 'kill' anybody. Also to assist the president with club's activities and of course to help out with the councils whenever they need help.

ET: What are the changes you faced after being a PRO for a year and turning into a VP?
SL: As a PRO, I was constantly in contact with the members and enjoy a rather comfortable relationship with them. However as a VP the members seems to be awe of me and at times keep their distance...have the feeling that i am scaring them off at times. Also as the PRO I was busy most of the time, brainstorming for activities and undertaking them as well but after becoming a VP I don't get that chance and actually feel lost at times when I realised that I have no more activites to organise.

ET: What are the greatest difference being a PRO and a VP?
SL: Not organising activities for the members. Still have the urge at times to take over the Thursday activities...hehe miss the times when 3 of us (PROs) sit down to talk/argue/quarrel/joke/discuss the next activity and the excitement of waiting for the members to come and freaking out when the members are missing at 5.30pm (because they are always late! Give me a scare everytime...sigh)

ET: What are the things you like the do most now as a VP but you can't as a PRO?
SL: Err...I still prefer the work of a PRO...but at least as a VP now people tend to listen to me more??

ET: Do you prefer to be a PRO or VP? If not, what post do you like best?
SL: The truth???.....PRO...I also rather like the post of welfare officer since I am doing it now as well. Its quite exciting and fun racking the brains to think of something to get for each council. And of course, I like the shopping ...

ET: Closing words?
SL: Not very good in this area but TAS RULES!!!! Hahaha, work hard everybody and keep the flag of TAS flying high! I know its tough at times but as the saying goes: when the going gets tough, the tough gets going!
