[VR3 Snowed Applications]

I was tired of the available on-screen keyboards for the VR3, so I made this one. It has the full set of numbers and letters all on one screen, unlike the included QWERTY keyboard. Also it has a button that gives you access to the international keyboard included on the VR3, but not available with the standard keyboard.

To install (for anyone who hasn't messed with the keyboard already)

  1. Rename the fullqwerty.keyboard.txt to fullqwerty.keyboard
  2. Become root on your VR3
  3. Backup your current /etc/alpha.keyboard
  4. Rsync the fullqwerty.keyboard file to your VR3 as the /etc/alpha.keyboard file
    • Example command: rsync fullqwerty.keyboard agenda::root/etc/alpha.keyboard
  5. Run 'ps' under a terminal on the VR3 or under a telnet session to the VR3
  6. Find the process with '.keyboard' as the last part of the command
  7. Kill that process (i.e. kill pid where pid is the PID of the '.keyboard' command
  8. Start up the keyboard by pressing the silk screened keyboard button on the VR3

Download the Full QWERTY Keyboard: fullqwerty.keyboard

I also recommend installing the Keyboard+merlin alternative keyboard program as it fixes the cut-off problem that the original keyboard program causes with five-line keyboard layouts. You can get to it from the Agenda Software Repository .
