Opportunity:  A Daily Virtual Visit to South America
Steve McCrea, class of 1987
Every day I spend five or ten minutes in Colombia or Argentina.  I zip across two thousand miles by hanging out with students from South America.  One of the perks of being a language instructor is that my students give me special insights to life in their countries.  Often they offer to meet me in their hometown to give me a tour (and many of them let me stay in their homes).
This opportunity is open to any student at Nova.  Our classes are held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m to 12:40 p.m.
Just call ahead of time and leave a message for Steve 262-8696. If the line is busy, call my cellphone at 954-646-8246.   You can come for 10 minutes or an hour, 30 minutes or join a group of us for lunch after class.    I'm not looking for teaching assistants and the only payment you'll receive is the joy of making a new acquaintance.  I just want to open a door to my students and to you:  you can learn about another culture and they can ask you, "Is it true that Laser Quest is the best laser tag game in South Florida?" (I give them this kind of valuable information.)
This is your opportunity to make acquaintances who can give you a tour of Caracas, Lima, or Buenos Aires when you get out "into the real world." For more infomration, visit the web sites of the student newspaper:

Remember, 90 percent of your college education takes place outside the classroom.  Without my daily dose of South America, I wouldn't know about the fascinating cities of Cedillin, Mali, Raracas, Cio de Febrero, Carranquilla and Bartagena. Why not join me and learn something about another culture?  I invite you to spend time with my students.
