It's a good idea to volunteer time in a hospital...

Last year I had a very rewarding experience working as a volunteer in a hospital in Caracas.  I was going for about seven months with two classmates.  We took out the blood of the patients, talked with them, injected their treatment, etc.  But the most important work was when we mixed with them very well, so at the end of our work, they didnt want us to leave them.  It was very special.  The patients loved us, even though we only gave them a piece of candy or listened to their problems or their pains.

Almost all the patients were very grateful for the doctors attention, but there are some of them that were very depressed or angry, so this craft requires tolerance.   At the same time you need to know exactly what you are doing.  You have to be very competent to have success.

What we did was cooperation, using what we learned in six months of classes.  But anyone can volunteer their time for the hospital, smiling or talking to the patients or donating money or blood.  I really enjoyed doing this because we made many people happy and we learned about their anxieties and feelings.

My Pet

One day some years ago my neighbor knocked on my house.
I said, Hello.  How are you?
She told me, I'm fine, thank you.
What can I do for you?
I have three beautiful kittens and I want to know if you want to keep one.
Let me think about this,  I said.
Sure.
See you later.
Bye.

Then I went to find my husband and explained the situation to him.  He was in agreement with having the pet in the house.

Then three weeks later the pet came to our house.  His name was Rudolf.  I decided that his mission was to hunt lizards, frogs and snakes.  He didnt do that.  My husband felt very disappointed with Rudolf because the cat failed in his mission.

Before continuing I would like to describe Rudolf.  He is black and white and on his nose he has a white line.  If Im honest, I must say the Rudolf is an ugly cat, but I love him.

Rudolf always was in front of the house.  He was waiting for his food. He usually was around the children.  Unfortunately, one day Rudolf never came back.  My husband and my son want another cat, but I completely disagree.
