January 2004

* Stolen dog alert . . . It has been brought to our attention that a seven month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier male dog has been stolen from Lowestoft, Suffolk. His colourings are brindle, with a white chest and black face. It would appear that this is not the first Staffordshire Bull Terrier type dog to go missing in this area and it is believed that these dogs could be being stolen to use for dog fighting. There have also been a number of other breeds stolen in the Norfolk and Suffolk area, but we think the above is for dog fighting. Please be vigilant, and please be aware that these thugs are dangerous. Should you have any information, please phone East Anglia Animal Rights Coalition on 07788 404074 or Suffolk Police on 01986 835300.

* A very distasteful shop . . . A member has brought it to our attention that a shop in Ipswich has a stuffed fox in the window with one of its paws resting on a stuffed pheasant and it is priced at a staggering £475. Another company making money from murdered animals. The shop is called Sportizus and they specialise in sporting and celebrity memorabilia, so why have they two dead animals in their window? God only knows. To our member's disgust, the shop's attitude was that they didn't care. There are a number of these stores around the country and they may also possibly have these disgusting displays in their windows. We are asking you to contact the shop in question and head office asking them politely to discard of this awful eyesore. The contact details for the Ipswich store are 35, Westgate Street, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 3DX. Tel/Fax 01473 251431.The head office of Sportizus Limited is based at Falkland Close, CharterAvenue, Coventry, CV4 8AU. Tel: 0870 165 7219 or email [email protected] For other stores see their web site "www.sportizus.com".

January 2005

* Woman injured as ridden down by huntsman in Norfolk and saboteurs attacked

Click here to view the Eastern Daily Press article

(Notes - No hunts sabs wore balaclavas, we have video to prove this.

The lady in here early 60's was a hunt protester not a sab. She was also on the public high way when ridden at.

Regarding the allegations of anti-hunt protesters whipping a huntsman is rubbish. The huntsman in question is actually a whipper-in he rode his horse at a sab and then repeatedly whipped him.  The whipper-in was aware this was being filmed and he said the camera didn't get him a conviction last time.

The whipper-in was also warned by the huntsman - "don't do nothing while the cameras on us".)

A woman in her 60s, protesting against the killing of hares, was injured
when she was ridden down by a huntsman in Norfolk today (22 January 2005).

The woman was one of a group of hunt saboteurs at Quidenham, Norfolk where
the Dunston Harriers had met to chase and kill hares.  She was ridden down
by Michael Karayan, huntsman of the pack of hounds. Police were present when
it happened.  An air and land ambulance were called at around 2pm. The
protestor recieved head injuries, concussions and whiplash. She received
treatment from paramedics but did not attend hospital. The huntsman's
details were taken but he was not arrested.

Another hunt saboteur was assaulted in front of a police officer. Although
the officer admitted that she saw it, the police did not arrest the hunt
supporter who had carried out the attack. A formal complaint will be made
soon and the incident is on video.

Acting whipper-in Richard Smith is alleged to have repeatedly whipped
saboteurs, rode his horse at them and threatened to "smash their faces in".
This carried on throughout the day. Although all the instances were reported
to police no action was taken by them.  Smith was arrested last year for
smashing up two hunt sabs vehicles but released without charge - despite
both incidences being caught on video camera.

Hunt supporters repeatedly threatened hunt saboteurs and offered to fight to
them.  Again this was caught on film.

One of the saboteurs' vehicles was also rammed by a hunt supporter.  Again no
action was taken by the police.

Hunt Saboteurs Association spokesperson Nathan Brown said: "Police failing
to arrest hunt supporters who carry out assaults on our members are giving
them the green light to carry out more attacks.  The police are failing in
their duty and, to our members, it appears as if they are colluding with
criminals."

Notes for editors:

Stuart Sayer, ex-hunt master of the Dunston Harriers was at the hunt today.
He was sentenced last year to 18 months in prison for lying in court, over
drug deals.
