A/R Group With Charity Shop – Van Burnt Out
On Wednesday 4th August during the early
hours of the morning, a white ‘K’ reg Vauxhall Astramax Van belonging to an A/R’s charity shop, and the
A/R’s group 'Great Yarmouth Against
Animal Cruelty', was taken from Gt. Yarmouth, and later
found burnt out at Martham. It was also full of
saleable goods ready for off loading at the A/R shop the following day.
The taking and burning of this vehicle followed
Greyhound Remembrance Day (GHRD) which was held outside Gt. Yarmouth Stadium
(Stock Car & Greyhound Racing), and the event had been extensively
advertised in the charity shop leading up to GHRD. Last year the same people’s
car was vandalised after GHRD.
During
the summer of 2003 police had to be called out due to people being shot at by a
sniper firing from Gt.Yarmouth Stadium roof, where a
peaceful protest was being held outside. Among the people who had gathered to
register their protest against greyhound suffering, was a young baby. A 2.2 air
rifle has the velocity to quite easily kill a baby, and of course cause serious
damage or blindness to adults, including further injury by any ricochet. Two
pellets were found, one of which was handed to the police.
The
three incidences above where reported to the police, but unfortunately there
has only been a ‘deafening silence’.
I
will leave you to decide what investigations would have taken place had these
three incidences been against any other leading charity shops vehicle, such as
Cancer Research, British Heart Foundation etc, or indeed ‘Homefinders’
who home greyhounds from the track, and of course if some thug had been
shooting at a group of people across a car park, anywhere else
!!
IF ANYONE IS ABLE TO
