Northern Lights received the Golden Heart International Duo of the Year award for 2001 from The Country Gospel Music Association.
Yancey was also awarded the Silver Heart award for Sound Engineer in the Eastern Division

Awards for the year 1999
The Northeast region of the Country Gospel Music Association. met at the 1st Baptist Church, Oneonta, NY on April 22, 1999. Northern Lights received the following awards. The Silver Heart award for Vocal Group of the year for the Northeast Region and The Silver Heart award for Band of the year for the Northeast Region. The Northeast Region extends from Maine to Virginia. This makes Northern Lights eligible to attend the National Convention in October, 1999 to be held in Oklahoma.

The Country Gospel Music Association's "Band Of The Year for the Northeast region of America" award was presented to Northern Lights at a ceremony in Salem, Virginia on April 25, 1998
