Discovering you are going to have Twins!!!!!
The day I discovered I was to have twins is a day that
I will never forget......
It was my 3rd pregnancy and although I had had a
positive test result I was still having light
periods, so when the midwife said I was bigger than I
should have been we presumed I was further along than
was first thought.
A scan was booked... I was feeling small fluttering
movements at only 11 weeks so thought that I must be
further along.
The day of the scan arrived and Gary had the day off
of work and came along with me, the thechnologist(is
that what they call them??)was asking about my dates
as the screen blinked on!!!!!!!
I knew what she was going to say imediately..........
although it was a bolt from the blue, as the two little heads were there as clear
as day. I looked at Gary and he was frowning, trying to work out what part of THE baby this was, and the lady doing the scan turned to me and said.....erm....are
there twins in your family?
I was grinning ear to ear by that time and Gary's jaw
was almost hitting the floor.
Afterwards I have to admit I told everyone with a
sense of pride that "I am having twins" but it was a
shock to us and the family as the only twins there
were in either of our families was from my gran who
had had a twin pregnancy 80 years ago but had lost one
of them early on.
I have 5 daughters now and although I know that twins
usually skip a generation, having this lot I wonder
whether I will have twin grandchildren one day and
which one, if any, have them!!
