As a member of NOMAS, there are a visible amount of advantages. One being the National Organization of Minority Architects Annual Conference. Our chapter attends this conference. The conference is hosted by a different state chapter every year, and architects and students from all over the country gather to network share experiences, and focus on important issues through workshops, panels, and lectures.

The UIUC chapter of NOMAS hosts its annual symposium every year in the spring. Architects and students are invited from all over the country to give lectures and presentations and discuss important issues affecting the architecture profession and related fields. It is a great time for networking, obtaining internships, and sharing experiences with professionals who have had similar experiences in their education.

This chapter also focuses on community service, fundraising, and special events to bring attention to the problems minority architecture students may face in the classroom and professional world. The organization is only as strong as its members, who are held to high academic standards and responsibilities. These students are united in the cause that formed this organization.

Chapter dues are vital in our organization. The dues provide part of the funding that supports our activites, including firm visits, the NOMA conference, our chapter annual symposium, and other events.
