Origin of the name No Low Fat:
Apartment policy from the undergrad days. No low fat food was allowed in the household because we needed to stock up on blubber to pass winter without huge heating bills ... freezing upstate NY winter. Ironically one of my housemates from back then now has high cholestrol so he has to eat no low fat food.
Update:
Think I haven't updated for a while. I've passed all my Ph.D. qualifying exam. Pretty close on dynamical systems and vibrations. So my prof missed his chance to fire me ... for now. Continuing to work on my project with the master-slave Phantom. We've already bought the second Phantom, though I think I got the specs somewhat wrong. Not that it's a big problem, but it shows my prof just what a moron I am. Hahaha! Staying here for the whole summer and not going back home partly cuz of the stupid SARS. Besides I've already been home over winter. Also went to San Fran to visit some undergrad friends for spring break.
Working to get my Ph.D. thesis proposal ready by fall, after which I'll get another raise in pay (got my first raise after passing the qualifying exams)!! So that's all for my life so far. Yeah pretty boring huh? Hopefully I'll get my degree in under 2 years, join the force of unemployed, and switch to another boring life! |
