Welcome to my Rants. . .
With less than a week to go things are heating up. A recent Strategic Canada poll suggests the Tories lead by a whopping 18 points, 42% to 24%.

Gaffes haven't stopped. The Liberals are saying one thing and then another. It's time for a change.

Two major newspapers have recently endorsed a Harper majority government, the Montreal French newspaper, LaPress and the nationally sold Globe and Mail (which have in the past been very Liberal) The only major paper to endorse the Liberals is of course the Toronto Star.

The Libs are at it again. Realizing the end is near, they begin their smear and fear campaign against the Tories. Harper responded with, "They'll put new twists on things, but I can't see any new line of attack. I mean, they've accused us of just about everything. There's not much left. Alien invasion?"

Just think a bit. Who do you want in government. Martin discusses 'values', but unfortunately he only talks about the Liberal values and tries to impose those on all Canadians. They basically say, if you don't share our values, you're not a real Canadian. Maybe we should do as one prominent Liberal said, to, 'take our ass(es) back to the US where they belong'. Hmmm, I'd never vote for a party who purports this. My View

It's interesting to note, that in the NDP/Liberal heartland of NW Ontario, a recent online poll conducted by www.tbsource.com people where asked who there were to vote for, most chose the Tories, at 32% ahead of the NDP, 23.6% and the Libs at 18.3%. In Thunder Bay the Tories usually fall to third, especially in Port Arthur riding. Now this isn't statistically factual but interesting to see that even the social bastion of NW Ontario realizes a change is needed.

I've been meaning to do this for quite a while. This page is a detail of my personal ideas, and daily news as the upcoming federal election looms.

If you harbor the views of the NDP or Liberals, stop reading your blood might burn.

In these rants I will ponder the announcements of each of the main parties. I will have links to each party to see where they stand on each issue.

An interesting side note, the left leaning, Government Run, CBC has been allowing some different ideas on their site, including those of Tory supporters. More interesting is their www.votebyissue.org site. I took it and found it quite eye-opening.  You can vote on each issue and select whichever idea you support. You may be surprised who's platform you support more. For me, I supported the BQ in 6 issues but disagreed on 6. NDP, I agreed with 4 and disagreed on 8. The Libs, had 8 issues I agreed on, while the Tories I surprising supported all their positions.

We must band together during this election. It is EXTREMELY important. This election is about honor, honor of Canadians. We have become very insignificant in the international stage. Remember over the past 12 years of Liberal rule what have we got to show for it? Are we truly better off today than we were before? (not taking into account we were in the middle of a recession when the Libs came into power)

Since they came to power, our dollar has soared and tumbled to all time lows. The export based economy grew with a low dollar, but it kept companies inefficient and now with a high dollar they are having a hard time coping.

Here are just a few reminders of the past 12 years:

  • Canceling the Sea King replacement (Cost Canadians almost $1Billion in cancellation fees)
  • Sponsorship scandal (enough said)
  • Gun Registry ($2B for a "$2M" program, is it working?)
  • HRDC boondoggle
  • Tainted blood Compensation Read More
  • Radwanski Spending Affair Read More
  • GST Flip Flop: Liberals promised to get rid of the GST but realized it was a cash cow.
  • Airbus Investigation: failed investigation to find dirt on Mulroney
  • Broken Promises of the Red Book: Ethics commissioner, Day Care, Cut GST, etc
  • Shawinigate: The PM uses his influences to get a loan for a friend of a chalet which he had an interest in.
  • Liberal fundraiser Pierre Corbeil charged with fraud by RCMP after he approached several Quebec companies seeking federal job training grants and asking for payments to Liberal Party, having gotten the names from senior Quebec Liberal Minister, Marcel Massé.
  • Entitlements: remember former Cabinet Minster saying after he quit on why he should get a severance, "I'm entitled to my entitlements."

Isn't this the truth!
A young man named Paul bought a donkey from an old farmer for $100.00. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day. When the farmer drove up the next day, he said, "Sorry son, but I have some bad news...the donkey is on my truck, but he's dead."

Paul replied, "Well then, just give me my money back."

The farmer said, "I can’t do that. I went and spent it already."

Paul said, "OK then, and just unload the donkey anyway".

The farmer asked, "What are ya gonna do with him?"

Paul said, "I'm going to raffle him off."

To which the farmer exclaimed, "You can't raffle off a dead donkey!"

But Paul, with a big smile on his face, said, "Sure I can. Watch me.

I just won't tell anybody that he's dead."

A month later the farmer met up with Paul and asked, "What happened with that dead donkey?"

Paul said, "I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two dollars a piece and made a profit of $698.00."

Totally amazed, the farmer asked, "Didn't anyone complain that you had stolen their money because you lied about the donkey being dead?"

And Paul replied, "The only guy who found out about the donkey being dead   was the raffle winner, when he came to claim his prize. So I gave him his $2 back plus $200 extra, which is double the going value of a donkey, so he thought I was a great guy."

Paul grew up and eventually became the Prime Minister of Canada, and no matter how many times he lied or how much money he stole from Canadian voters, as long as he gave them back some of the stolen money, most of them thought he was a great guy.
