SUNKEN SOUNDS - TUNNELLED VISIONS
Thursday 14th September 2006

Noise Club at the Williamson Tunnels

Slowly the doors open, one by one the audience file along the narrow path which leads around the tunnels. Down below, the band prepare to start their first set of the evening... Then comes an announcement from Tim - the PA head has blown!

Not a good start! But, after some frantic negotiating, another amp and mixer are obtained and the event can finally begin.

The first set is largely electro-acoustic, accompanied by Luke's drawing, which is projected onto the bare rock-face.

Then, after a short interval, the second set begins - this time in the next tunnel along. This set is more electronic, with Tim and Si G both on laptops and Si J on analogue keyboard. Meanwhile Mike provides a gently wailing accompaniment. Throughout the set, mathematical animations are projected onto the tunnel wall.

The music draws to a close and the tunnels return to their dark existence.

The ambience and acoustics were fantastic! WHAT A VENUE!

Today Noise Club were: Luke Cherry, Tim Downey, Si Gross, Si Jones & Mike Loftus.

Many thanks to the Williamson Tunnels Heritage Centre for putting us on, to Lets Go Global TV for being there to video us, to Phil Morton to providing us with a mixer (and saving the day in the process) and to the audience for making it a great evening.

Some of the event will be broadcast on Lets Go Global TV in a few weeks (we'll announce the details nearer the time).

In the meantime, take a look at the picture galleries below.
