Tim Downey
Tim is a self taught musician. Initially a blues guitarist, Tim has since incorporated a multitude of instruments. Early experiments in the manipulation of tonality and texture of feedback has led to many experimental compositions. Since being influenced by avant-garde, noise, experimental and grindcore artists, he has utilised computer based technologies, sequencers and effects units to create a multidimensional sonic environment, which is persistently explored from different directions. Producing works of exaggerated complication and improvised jams of tonal chromatic music as well as microtonal experimental music, much of this has been recorded. Tim has been fortunate enough to have experimented with scanning electron microscopy in the field of microbiology, much of this work provides a window into a microscopic world of overwhelming detail, which provides a refreshingly different perspective of this world. This has been the inspiration and source of the majority of Tim's photographic works. |
