Simon has worked with local arts, music & technology groups right around Liverpool and the North-West. He is a member of Frakture, a local improvised music collective, as well as several other free-improv groups, including GaSH, Sine & Mneme.

Compositionally Simon is self-taught, starting out as a writer of serial and post-serial 12 tone music. In 1995 he turned to tape based effects and improvisation with Chicken Seed Farm and not long after to electronic music.

Simon's current engagements with music take two main forms: as a performer he focuses on improvisation as a means towards the democratisation of music creation and a foundation for the second aspect - composition. As a composer, Simon seeks to mimic real systems, like colour, light or physical & chemical reactions, using maths & physics combined with microtonal harmonies; his stated aim is to use the dynamics of the material world to create music with real meaning, and link different aspects of that material world, eg. colour and harmony.

Simon studied video & photography at Halton College and is currently studying music at Liverpool University.
