Obscene Extreme Production Interview Hello Curby, how are you know? Well, before we start let me know first what are you doing right now while answering this interview? Believe me or not, but I listen to PRODIGY "The Fat Of The Land" he,he,he�but next will be some grindcore again, don't worry... By the way who is Curby? Could you please tell us more about yourself? Sure, I'm just fan for extreme music like you�I love my family (3 kids bro!!!), traveling and football!!! That's it�maniac!!! How hard to manage your label Obscene and organizing a once a year festival. Is this your fulltime job or do you have any work keeps you more busy? Yeah, it's my full time job�I work every day like 10-12 hours for Obscene prod. or our annual festival�I'm doing everything alone so I have to work fast - mailorder, promotion, 50 e-mails every day etc. etc. You got lots of new releases out now posted on your website. Let's talk about it one by one. First is ABORTION - Gonna Be Worse album. How's this new album added to your releases. Is this your personal choice or the band requested it? Or this is planned already that after a couple of ABORTION album released on OBP there will be another new one? Is there any plan for future ABORTION album? Not actual anymore 'coz I'm late with my answers but anyway�ABORTION are on Obscene and when they want to release new album I'll do it�right now, they did for us 2 funny cd's and probably we'll release also their new album sometimes in 2006. Actually our new records are CRIPPLE BASTARDS "Desperately Insensitive" CD (will be release by Obscene Asia in november 2006 as well) - awesome album of grindcore legend with new cover layout and bonus live tracks, new ISACAARUM "Shibari Kata And Other Practices" CD - militant nihilistic inferno and OBSCENE EXTREME 2004 double DVD - nearly 6 hours the best of OEF with cool shows of GENERAL SURGERY, BUTCHER ABC, ROMPEPROP, SQUASH BOWELS, NATRON, GRIDE, BRODEQUIN, GRONIBARD, BLOOD, EXTREME NOISE TERROR etc. etc. with many extras like Body Piercing show, Interviews, Stage Diver's Manual etc. If I'm not mistaken ABORTION got 2 previous albums released already on OBP. What is the reason that ABORTION are lucky to have 3 albums done for your label. Do you have any personal relationship with the band or it's because they are the first grindcore band from Slovakia. Just one before was released under flag of Obscene�and you're right, we're really good friends with ABORTION�they are one of the first grindcore bands from our area so we know each other long, long time�and we became great friends...they try to help me with gigs and I work for ABORTION�and of course also their music is really good and I love their live shows, they're so funny�simply awesome!!! Another new release you have are from PHOBIA. This American grindcore band got really some good records they have done. So for this band how they got records released on OBP? Do you offer them a good contract or how it is happened? It's my dream to release band like PHOBIA, my old time favorite band and real grindcore heroes!!! I released their last two mini Cd's "Get Up And Kill" and "Grind Your Fucking Head In" for Euro market�they wanted to have better distro here in Europe and they offered me this cooperation�and again, we're friends, I did for them tour back in 2003 with our band INGROWING and they're very satisfied with our cooperation so that's why they wanted to work with us again... What about the annual festival Obscene Extreme. Can you tell us more about how this extreme festival started? Besides of you are there any other people behind this festival. What do you want to know??? It's annual meeting of extreme music fanatics from whole world!!! It's weekend full of fun!!! Every year we have like 45-50 killer bands playing one stage during two days so to be honest it's real ear holocaust he,he,he�and I'm doing almost everything for festival but of course on festival work like oef crew about 40 friends of mine!!! How do you manage the communication between the bands that play on your festival? Do they received any royalty for playing on your festival or this is only an invitational gig? Pay to play??? Never!!! I hate this American kind of "promotion"!!! I want to support extreme music and that's why I'm doing this festival, not for money!!! I try to pay all travel expenses for all bands, it's not so easy 'coz only money we get are tickets...not any sponsors or whatever but every year we're able to pay it all thanx to supportive fans!!! And about communication between bands and oef...every year I choose bands I want to see live or fans want to see (you can send me e-mail what bands do you want to have there at oef 2006!!!) and then I contact them�some of them are too expensive so we have to search for others� 2005 Obscene Extreme festival are coming this July. Right? How's the preparation right now. Can you pls tell us some short info and list of bands who confirmed to play? Do you have any pick you wish to play on your festival? It's over and I'm extremely satisfied with OEF 2005!!! It was simply great fest with 45 bands like PUNGENT STENCH, DISFEAR, BLOOD DUSTER, HAEMORRHAGE, REGURGITATE, INGROWING, LENG T'CHE, SAYYADINA, DEAD, AVULSED, YACOEPSAE and many more�over 3.000 fanatics did amazing atmosphere as usually!!! Check www.obscene.cz for gallery and then you'll know what I mean�so right now I started to work on OEF 2006 (13th-15th july 2006 again in Trutnov, Czech rep.) and of course I have many bands that I want to see here next year, for example DISMEMBER, BOLT THROWER, GUT, DEVOURMENT and many more� Well let's talk about your Asian tour last February. How is it? How are you know after the tour? Have you enjoyed it? Perfect!!! Asia is great place with lots of maniacs for this kind of music!!! I have seen same passion for extreme music that I have and it's great to know this�one of the best days of my life, really�no kidding!!!! Thanx for it one more time!!! What can you say about the scene in Asia compare to other places in Europe that you have been toured already? Any comparison. It's something else�Europe and USA as well have underground scene long, long time�in Asia it looks like everything just started�we have so many tours here that fans are bored and in Asia it's not so easy to see live some band from Europe so all fans were extremely excited to see INGROWING!!! I'll never forget shows in Bangkok or Bandung!!! What about the bands you have been seen in the gig. What can you say about them? Do you think they have deserve to be released on OBP it there is a chance? Why not?? Right now we start with Obscene productions Asia and we want to help this scene!! We are staring right now with office in Malaysia and distribution of all Obscene records for fine prices and then in future we want to release also some Asian bands and maybe do festival like Obscene Extreme here!!! And what can I say about bands? Brutal!!! I was really surprised!!! Cool bands I have seen were DEMISOR, DEATHGUY, LACERATE, MASOCHIST, NEGATION, FLESH DISGORGED, SPERMBLAST, DAMOKIS, DAY OF TOMMOROW, TOOLS OF THE TRADE, EXTREME DECAY, PRIMITIVE CHIMPANZEE, SYSTEM ERROR, CRANIAL INCISORED, DEATH VOMIT, JASAD, SERINGAI and more!!! Do you have any good or bad experienced happened when you are in Asia tour you would like to share? Great experience were fans everywhere, very friendly and really nice, supportive, always trying to help you with everything�only bad experience was show in Tangerang�no sleeping places, bad organization� You mentioned on your tour reports from your OBP website that Demisor are really fucking great and also you know that they never have been released any full length album. What can you say about them and to Fahmy? Do you think they are deserved to be one of OBP released someday? Yeah, it's unbelievable�they will be sooner in Guinness book than they will release debut album!!! This band is here from '88 and they have no one album!!! How weird!!! And yes, I offered to release their album and also I want to invite them on OEF!!! What can you say about people asking of your autograph, kiss, hug, etc� he! Thanx so much for your support!!! Hopefully you had great time like we�all INGROWING's members were happy on this tour and they want to go back when they will do new album next year!!! So be ready for another portion of grind!!! What about the chances you missed to tour in the Philippines. What I knew is low budget and lack time to visit us here. Do you have any plan to be here soon with other band or what? Believe me we would love to go and play in Philippines but we're not rich people and we had to pay almost everything by ourselves�and time is also problem, this 4 weeks tour was maximum we could do�sorry one more time!!! After a couple of weeks you have been here in south East Asia with different people you hanged out. Do you agree about the accusation that Asian scene mostly in south are all bunch of rip off guys. What can you about this? I can't agree with this!!! I met just very friendly and cool people over here and that's why I start with Obscene Asia�everybody is doing office in USA 'coz business but I don't care�I want to help Asian scene!!! Do you have any plan to tour again soon in South East Asia including Philippines. And what is the reason for that? Sure!!! I want to go there every year!!! Right now I plan my next visit of SE Asia with my family�I want to show all nice places of Asia to my kids and girlfriend!!! So this time it will be more like family vacation, but in future we'll be surely back with some Obscene band!!! Well Curby, I guess that's for all now.
