Nyctophobic Interview

1. How's the band now? Tell us something new and plan for upcoming tour (if there's) or maybe on the making recordings for releases?

Ah, yeah. We are just about to do some new songs for a new release in 2003. At the moment there are not many live shows....... So we got some time! Our guitarist Jeust left us. So we are a four guys now. But no big deal.....this will not stop us!

2. I'm just only wondering, why NYCTOPHOBIC? Is there any special meaning or experience for that.

No. Not really. Just a silly name.

3. Actually I don't have any news what is the latest tour you have done. Could you pls. tell us atleast a short story about that.

A story about our tour! FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK! The last tour was completely fucked up. The hardest thing was that one of our tour busses was stolen in Rotterdam/Netherlands. This really pissed me off! So that's it!

4. Could you tell us about your CD "Insect". Is this the latest release you've done?

Yes. Insects is our latest release. In fact: There was a LP release of Insects some month ago. So that is the latest release!

5. Besides of other European country did you ever tour already in Asia or plan to play here most especially in the Philippines. If yes, what is your condition?

No, we never played in Asia. Our friends of BRAINWASHED toured in Japan. That's something I would love to do, too. We never thought about playin' in the Philippines. Of course we would play there, if someone covers our travelling costs.

6. What about if there is a label want to release your songs, what they should do and what demands you ask.

They should just release the shit. Morbid pays our studio...so that's cool. For 7'' we pay the studio and want some free copies!

7. How many bands did you played with? Do you have been experience being ripped off by an organizer or a penpal. What can you about this kind of people!

We played with a fuckin' huge amount of bands: AGATHOCLES; HAEMORRAGHE, TOTAL FUCKIN' DESTRUCTION; STACK, EXHUMED, HEMDALE, BLOOD, GUT, ARSEDESTROYER, DERANGED, EXTREME NOISE TERROR and so on.....hey, we were founded in 1992 and are playin' gigs since 1993....so you can imagine that there where very much bands. No, we were never ripped of. But I was ripped of by BLOODDUSTER some years ago. So: Rip off are suckers!

8. What do you know about our country? Do you have any contact here before.

I don't know much about your country. Two years ago some German tourists were kidnapped by the Abu Sajaf (Joselito - No, Abu Sayaf) (is that spelled right?) in your country. They are moslem rebels, right? I know that there was the dictator Marcos some years ago, which was brought down. Now you live in a democracy but as far as I know there are still some problems with your government. I know that is not very much...sorry!

9. What about your country? Is it nice to live there or you rather wish to live in other places. How's the underground scene there (most especially grind scene)?

I think that Western Europe is one of the best places to live. I mean: We don't have to starve, we live in a democracy...so that is really o.k. I don't really want to live elsewhere. I like Germany and especially my hometown: Mannheim. There is no real underground scene anymore! People are into Black Metal, Death Metal and True Metal, Heavy Metal and stuff like that: Nothing really interesting.

10. Is it true that there's a lot of job waiting there or I mean your country really need of manpower. Mostly what races you seen there and how's the their situation with nazi there.

Oh fuck......no....that is not true at all. We got over 4 million people that are out of work here. And a lot of people have to be afraid that they loose their jobs. At the moment the economic situation is not the best here in Germany. And it is nearly impossible for people from foreign countries to get a legal job here, because usually they are not allowed to work. In Germany we got a lot of people from Turkey, Italy and Russia. The Nazi situation is better than in the early 1990s but it is still very scary...especially in some small towns in eastern Germany it can be very dangerous if you look like a foreigner.

11. What are you doing now besides your band. Are all of you have a family already? Or do you have any plan to settle down and raise a big happy family.

None of us got a family. Tom works as a travel agent, Markus Bugert is working for Roche a company that produces medicine, Zimbo works for an architect and I studied laws.... at the moment I work for a court.

12. Do you also like noise music (industrial, experimental, harsh, electronic, etc.). What can you say about people doing this or your view about this.

Hell yeah. I love that electronic terror. In fact I mostly listen to that kind of stuff. I love everything that is out on Cold Meat Industry for example: In Slaughter Natives, Brighter Death Now...but I also like Tumor, Feindflug and stuff like that. All kinds of electronic music rule!!!! I also play in a band that mixes Gore grind with electronics.

13. If you like what is your fave noise band and what type of noise? Also some other type of band who inspired you a lot, reason that why you are here?

Well, I said it before! The only band in that vein that got some influence on Nyctophobic is Godflesh and perhaps old Pitchshifter. Reasons? Hmm...they are cool!

14. What will you do if there is a label want to make a split release with your band into a punk/oi/ska/rocknroll band. Do you accept it or you only prefer NYCTO... into grindcore band?

I would do split 7" with all kind of bands. I would die for a Split with Gluecifer...but that is a dream....

15. Ok before I forgot your fave question "Tell us something about the history of the band?" He! he! he! Just kidding! That's for all and thanks in advanced. Tell us more you like......

ARGH.....he, he. Well...thank you very much for your interest. Don't forget us..........we are still here! And also check out: www.nwc666.de. This is the website of my other band........extreme Gore stuff with killer electronic.......Grind the different way! THANK YOU PAL AND GOOD LUCK!
