| Instance 10: Its Just Another Day--Arashi Harada
Its not working! Thank you, Tai, I hadnt noticed. Shut up, panicking people are allowed to state the obvious. Various lab assistants and researchers fled, not wanting to end up dead on the floor like the last guy that got too close. Their plan is falling to pieces and Im getting out of here even if I have to shoot them all down in the process. Dakumi! The twins say his name as one and I whip around to see him standing calmly in the doorway. Hes been sent down here for damage control now that hells broken loose, and I made the mistake of letting my gaze meet his. People used to think that snakes could hypnotize their prey so it wouldnt escape, and while Himeko doesnt have the power that reflects this (Delsus would be in for hell if she did) Dakumi does. He can inflict a sort of hypnosis on those he makes eye contact with, and even if that contact is for the briefest second, its all he needs. The Scientific Research Department of our lovely little company here was trying to come up with a long term version of this (as the victim snaps out of it when Dakumi glances away) and decided to test it on me, which only led to it failing and me pulling a gun on them in the first place. Except now that I cant turn my gaze away from Dakumi (or move at all, really), Im pretty much at his mercy. You have no idea how annoying it is to not be in control of your own body. Honestly, Harada, youre such a troublemaker, he tells me with an amused smirk, drop the gun, would you? Im already throwing the aforementioned weapon down before I can even think of ignoring the order. Dakumi nods slightly at this, addressing the twins, but making sure to still be looking at me, Restrain him correctly this time so I have no problems when heading upstairs. So a couple of taunts and an elevator trip later, here we are on the presidential floor stepping into Ishiros office and, from the look on Dakumis face that mirrors mine, wondering why Bladen has no shirt on. I decide I dont want to know and Dakumi merely throws his jacket in Bladens face to tell him to put it on. Well, now that were all here, Ishiro says matter-of-factly, trying to ignore the fact Dakumi is about to strangle Bladen (which makes me wonder what he did that actually upset Dakumi) and Im glaring death at all three of them, I suppose we should get down to business before someone gets killed. Bladen just smirks while Dakumi glares at him, thinking Ishiro wont let Dakumi tear into him, and I try to find my knife in my back pocket so I can free my hands of this damn wire. Its somewhat difficult when said wire is tied so tight it cuts deeper into my wrists with every movement. Himekos told me some interesting things, Bladen, Ishiro begins, resting his elbows on top of the desk in front of him and his chin on his folded hands, about what youve been up to with Adel. Bladen pales, I freeze, and Dakumi edges away from me despite himself, sensing impending doom. He can be calm no matter what disaster he has to stare down, but my temper snapping is the one exception. I really dont care that all those injuries you gave him would have killed any normal person, or that you all but raped him and probably would have had Mirai not shown up, he has to pause to shift his gaze to me briefly and is apparently pleased by the ice cold stare, because he smirks, but I do mind the fact that you ignored your orders and didnt bring him back. You reported in, I told you you had an hour, and two hours after that Mirai shows up. I should let Arashi tear you apart. Himeko does her best work as a spy, and as she likes Delsus, it means she dislikes Bladen about as much as Delsus does. Therefore, she does everything she can to get him into trouble, because she thinks itll win her points with Delsus (though, as things currently stand, if he ended up with anyone, itd be Luna). In any case, I snap out of my frozen state when the wire snaps under the pressure of the knife I wasnt even aware I was applying, both cutting my wrist open even more. But I dont care about that because now Im free and can proceed to carve Bladens heart out of his chest. Unfortunately, while Ishiro is content to watch with an amused smirk as I pin Bladen, whos too shocked to react, and pull my arm back to stab him through the chest, Dakumi isnt. He grabs the wrist of the hand that holds the knife, so I drop it into my other hand, but Dakumi figured Id do that, so he also grabs the back of my jacket and pulls me back. But he wasnt fast enough to prevent Bladen from being injured. Dragging me back like that only served to leave a gash going down Bladens chest and ending at his hip. Dakumi proceeds to throw me out of the office before I can do any more damage however, then follows me into the hall along with Ishiros laughter. Youre so pathetic, if Dakumi wouldnt have been here, he would have killed you. Dakumi slams the door shut behind him before I can hear any more, though that was more than enough to amuse me. Hes trying to look annoyed, but he cant quite keep the smirk off of his face. I just have to find out now. What did he do to you? I ask casually, as if I just hadnt tried to kill someone, while wandering toward the elevator. Himeko was right, he mutters, you are bipolar. Dakumi trails after me and raises his tone slightly as he continues. A couple hours before you woke up, he was also down in the infirmary. Mirai also tried to kill him today, he explains, giving me a sideways glance, anyway Tairitsu had him on painkillers and that was chaos in itself. Himeko decided to let me take a hit for her, so I end up on the floor and he kisses me. Twice. I am truly sorry, I say as I hit the elevator button, nose wrinkling slightly in disgust. so now youre out to get him killed? Its an odd moment of, what I guess could be called friendship, between us, but Im not complaining. Its either this or we start a shootout in the hallway pretty much, so who cares if he wants to be out of character? Pretty much, he replies with a shrug, which reminds me, I should inform you of something. Yea? We step into the elevator as it dings, and I hit the button for the first floor, And are you going to tell me, or are you teasing me again? Well, I hadnt planned on it, but then I gave in to the voice in my head and decided that I should make Bladens life hell. Hearing voices again, are we? Is it a requirement to be insane to be a snake, Sekhmet? He glares at me for the reference, but then sighs defeatedly. I would argue otherwise, but as Himeko is insane too, I dont have anything solid to support my case. Score one for me, then. So, whats the news? |
