The Borneo Safari 2000 started with a selection trial held at 5 Star Nexus Karambunai Resort. In contrast to the resort motto "it must be heaven", the contestants saw hell with broken winch cables, axles and all. Unlike 1999, this year selection trial saw more terrain testing vehicle's articulations and less mud. The winners was then invited to enter the real safari.
