Tthis is my Daihatsu Rocky true 4x4 fitted with Volvo
C303 portal axles with hub reductions, vaccum operated
diff locks and 5.3:1 rings and pinions. The tires are 33inch
retreaded Silverstone
MT117 (poor man's tires) mounted on Volvo's
8 lugs 16x8" wheels. Toyota's 2LT 2.4 litres turbo
diesel provided the cheap power to move it. Body modifications (aside from dents, scratches and rusts by natures and 4 wheeling) are doors and rear panels widened 1 feet and home made 1 foot front fenders to match those axles witdh. The shocks are 4 West Coast Suspensions's and the springs are mix-match with their origin unknown. The sound systems come from 3 inch exhaust pipe which exited under the passenger door. 4 speaker with no cassette player provide the needed silence (the head unit was stolen). There is no winch fitted because winches are expensive and I need to eat too. Besides, with 18 inch of ground clearance and a stout diff locks it seldom got stuck. But then maybe I dont wheel hard enough. |
