Abortion

Socio-Cultural Aspect

Ones circumstances in life such as poverty, unplanned pregnancy, and health problems are some of the reasons that one may choose to have an abortion. Unmarried teenagers and women in their twenties are found to have had illegal induced abortion, due to the fact that they are still in school, ashamed of the pregnancy and lack the means of bringing up the child properly in society that does not have adequate social welfare and medical services for citizens( Sule-Odu, Olantunji & Akindele , 2002, p.58).

Poverty

The economic implications on the meager resources of the family of the women and the community at large is enormous, and this further worsens the condition of the patients since they cannot obtain adequate and good quality medical intervention (Sule-Odu et al, 2002, p.58). For these women of low socio-economic status, being pregnant costs them time off work, ultimately losing a badly needed income for the family.
