The Right Guy FAQ
What's with everyone saying that Don is gay when he's not?

Actually, there are a lot of TMNT fans out there who do think that Don is in fact gay. There are many reasons behind this. A lot of them are mentioned in the fic, such as Don is a pacifist ninja and fits in well with the stereotypical views held by society. Also, it is said that each bandanna colour reflects on the turtle's themselves eg; blue represents seriousness and formality, red represents anger and orange is the colour that isn't taken seriously. Ironically enough, purple is said to be the colour that represents sexual frustration. So there are a lot of things that could point to the idea of Don being gay.

I made this fanfic with the intention of bringing this view completely forward, with Leo and Raph representing the fans who believe this is true of Don, whilst Don represents his TMNT fans, who, of course all argue that he's straight.

Though sexuality is supposed to be a serious issue, I've tried to make Don being gay somewhat of a joke by adding the politically correct sentence straight after it is mentioned every time; making fun of society itself... and also to make sure that I didn't offend anyone!

Also, I wanted to deal with the issues surrounding sensative new age guys (SNAGS) and how they are viewed by the more 'macho men'. This concept came about by listening to a talk back morning radio program, where the hosts joked about how if a gay guy speaks to a straight guy, the straight guy always thinks that he's being hit on. I then heard a number of amusing stories from people who phoned up. So I just basically wanted to lightly play with that idea.

It's also a parody of a Seinfeld episode. I think (I haven't seen it in a while) George is accused of being gay, and every time it is mentioned, Jerry always says "Not that it's bad to be gay," for political correctness. So it's also an inside joke.

Speaking of inside jokes, the scenario that Leo asks Raph in the epilogue is another thing which occurs in Seinfeld, and it also parodies my other fic, The Glass Prison. There's another inside joke about SimTurtles in the epilogue as well.
I noticed that the Sims Unleashed was mentioned in the epilogue. Is 'The Right Guy' the sequel for 'SimTurtles'?

It can be considered as the sequel. If you've read SimTurtles then you'd know that there's the unsolven issue about which guy will admit his love for Venus first. But I didn't want to say in the description 'this is the sequel to SimTurtles' because then readers will think that they have to read 'SimTurtles' in order to understand 'The Right Guy' which is entirely not the case. Also, 'SimTurtles', because it is heavily dependent on references to the game, obviously cannot be read by everyone, and once again, people naturally won't read the sequel.

'The Right Guy' is in fact a combination of several ideas for fics. Originally, the sequel to 'SimTurtles' would have been almost entirely about the chaos erupting over the Playstation game, 'Tenchu'. Another separate fic was going to be about the car troubles, while I was also just going to write a short fic about Leo and Raph's views on sex. Then one day I just somehow decided to combine all three fic ideas into one larger piece of fanfiction. Obviously some of the ideas in the original three separate fics had to be scrapped into order to weave them all into one story; so for instance, the car troubles idea would have involved revengeful thoughts from the original car owner.
What's with Mike and his turtles?

Hehe! I guess it's just Michelangelo's... unique way of showing is affection for Venus. The whole idea of having a 'relationship turtle' came from a play I did for Drama at school. This girl in my class wrote a script that we could work on, and I played this unconfident guy who wanted to patch up his relationship by buying a 'relationship fish'. The idea sort of took off from there. I don't know why I made the turtle change names. Before I write any fanfic, I always have a storyboard written out first. Well, in the storyboard it was actually just going to be one turtle, but when I got to writing chapter 7 or so, I decided to have multiple turtles... I don't know I why. I found it amusing I guess. It keeps Mike occupied. ;o)
Do you personally think that Don is the right guy for Venus?

I think that any one of them would be good for her, in their different ways. 'The Right Guy', I feel, sets out to answer the frequently debated question 'who is going to hook up with Venus?', yet, in a way, it doesn't answer anything, because I don't think that there is an answer. The fic also tries to answer questions like 'is it better to wait for marriage' and 'is Don actually gay', but ironically, like the title of the epilogue; Much Ado About Nothing, I don't think anything is truly answered, and the fic finishes just about where it starts, which I find quite amusing. :o)
Why are the chapters named after movies?

I don't know. I'm a movie buff. I like movies! :o)

Actually chapter 1 is named after a song. Originally the chapters were going to be named after movies AND songs, but I kinda got carried away with the movies... hehe. So if anyone can think of a clever movie title for the first chapter, it would be greatly appreciated... cause I can't think of anything *looks around sheepishly*.
Are there any plans for a sequel?

Nah, don't think so. Although I might write another fic where Donny and Venus are together as a couple, but it most likely won't have any reference to 'The Right Guy'.
If there are any other questions about this fic that you want answered, then post your question in a review or email your question to [email protected]. If you choose to email, then please state what fic you're talking about because I don't want to have to guess!

Is there an actual Tenchu cheat?

Yes there is. There are a number of cheats such as restoring your health and unlocking all items. If you decide to unlock weapons, then may I suggest the 'lightning bolt' (best weapon in my eyes) and 'the world' (teleporter which is faster than the grapling hook). The 'gun' is also good. Just try some of them out, cause some are really interesting and fun :o) Just look up a Playstation cheat website on Google or something. www.darkstation.com is one site that has the cheats.
