Long before the Great Flood, when the demons of this world still lived in relative peace with the humans, Lillith took herself a mortal husband for a short time. At first it was a happy union, the two living separated from both of their kind in their own little Eden ... but the demons did not approve of the union - thinking it beneath her station and species to bed down with a human man - and so they slowly began to fill his head with evil while he slept. Lillith tried to reason with her husband, and then to just ignore his orders. Then one day, he ordered her to kneel, and when she did not he tried to force her. She nearly killed him where he stood - but she knew better. She knew that was what her sisters had wanted her to do, so instead she left.

Shunned by her own kind and misunderstood by humanity, Lillith wandered the planet alone for centuries. Living in solitary, her hatred for humanity grew steadily as time passed. Wherever she wandered she became a harbinger of death for the tribes who crossed her, killing their flocks .... killing their children. She watched from the shadows with amusement as her Myth grew ... and grew ... and grew. The men who wrote their versions of her story gave the demoness the name Lillith, and so she took it as her own. Now whenever a mother found their child cold in their basket, it was Lillith they cursed ... and the name lives in infamy to this day.

But as time passed, her anger slowly died. She was not so much angry with humanity - after all - as with her husband. After five millennia of wreaking havoc on shepherds flocks and killing newborns, she realized that the man she was angry with had turned to dust thousands of years before, and she stopped her mindless killing spree and found peace again.
 

Insinuating herself back into human civilisation, Lillith spent the next 2000 years watching human-kind grow and evolve and create new reasons to kill each other. And she found vampires. Her sisters' children, born of demon blood and human flesh and grew to love them as her own. Unlike her sisters - who though they preached impartiality were just about as partial as one could get when it came to the clans - Lillith had favourites of every family. She refused to pick any one over the others, and in this way she is the best mediator of all the Diablo sisters. She also refuses to take the adopted last name her sisters have, or the title, finding them too pompous and elitest for her tastes. She sees no point in putting herself on a pedistal above kindred-kind, and though she does have the final say, she would rather they call her Friend or Mother, than Goddess.
 

Now in New York, she has kept peace between the clans by forming The Council. Each clan is represented equally, and fairly, as are any and all other powerful factions within the city. In Lillith's eyes, all factions have the same rights and none can call her biased in her decisions. If any Clan head has a problem it is presented to the entire Council and she either guides them to come to a resolution themselves - or if not - then resolution is put to a vote. This is the only way that Lillith has kept what her sisters allowed to happen in Los Angeles from happening in New York.
