But Lathos did not kill her.  Instead she was turned into a ghoul, and a personal servant of Lathos. For over a hundred and fifty years, Frederique has been fed small portions of Lathos' blood to sustain her human vitality, her beauty, and her age.  With Lathos' blood, as with any vampires, came the power of inhuman strength.  Frederique also gained the ability to feel emotions and a fascination with blood.  In every other way she is human.

She is loyal to Lathos as the vampire has cared for her for more than a hundred years. 

Frederique knows her station in life, and she performs it very well.  She realizes also that she may be turned into a vampire some time soon.  She doesn't fear this, but she doesn't anticipate it either.
